Through in-depth, hands on learning, Wonders of Wildlife Homeschool Programs are designed to inspire students of all ages to take an active role in the conservation of our planet's natural resources. We promise to provide students a fun & safe learning environment to further their knowledge in the areas of biology, chemistry, earth science, engineering, fishing, hunting, survival & more.

    Beneath the waves of the ocean, there is a busy place with lots of commotion! Explore the oceans at Wonders of Wildlife as we look at ocean habitats and their bustling communities throughout the world!

    Animals all over the world live in many different types of places, from high mountain tops to deep dark caves. Some even build extraordinary homes! Let’s explore these crazy cool places and even try and build an animal home of our own!

    Our lakes, rivers, and streams are teeming with life! They provide many things for animals and humans alike including food, water, shelter, and much more. We will learn about fresh water ecosystems and the role they play in our day-to-day lives.

    From slithering snakes to slimy frogs, these cold-blooded creatures are vastly different but also share some similarities. Join us as we explore the crazy cool world of amphibians and reptiles and even meet some live animal friends!

  • Shark Dissection

    Sharks have some pretty cool adaptations that make them a top predator in the ocean. We will dissect a shark to better understand what makes them the lethal hunter of the sea.

  • Conserving our Future

    February 21st, 2019

    Natural resources are found all around us from the air we breathe to the plants we eat as well as the soil we grow them in; people use these resources every day to stay alive or to make our lives better. We will discover the importance of conserving our natural resources and think about what life would be like without them.

  • Stream Quality/Watersheds

    A small bubbling stream doesn’t look like much until you uncover the life that lives beneath the surface. Larger bodies of water benefit from streams by making them healthy and fit for use by humans and animals alike. Join us in the field as we uncover the importance of stream ecology.

  • Frog Dissection

    They can breathe and drink through their skin, grow lungs from gills, and give scientists a good idea of how an ecosystem is functioning. Learn about frogs and their anatomy as we dissect a frog.

Homeschool Discount Days

Wonders of Wildlife hosts homeschool students across the region for a day of discounted admission and learning opportunities. Students will experience the thrill of touching stingrays at the bottom of a sunken shipwreck and have sea stars at their fingertips. With the help of our passionate team of educators, staff, and volunteers, your students are guaranteed to have a great time while learning about the beautiful and complex world we live in.

Please note:

  • Homeschool Discount Days will be offered 3 times per year.
  • Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be available at the ticket counter on the day of.
  • Homeschool Day tickets are subject to timed entry and are only available for the following times on the specified dates: 9:00am, 9:15am, 9:30am and 9:45am.
  • The discounted admission ticket to the Homeschool Day will be void at 10:00 AM when our doors open to the general public.
  • Members are welcome but are subject to our normal operating hours.

Cancellations/Exchanges/Transfers

If you are unable to attend the Homeschool Discount Day, please contact the Wonders of Wildlife Education department at 417-225-1162. Refunds minus a $10 service fee will be granted to all cancellations made with at least 2 weeks' notice. No refunds will be given for tickets with less than 2 weeks' notice.

Homeschool Discount Day tickets cannot be exchanged for other products or transferred to other guests.

Memberships

Members may join other guests purchasing Homeschool Discount Day tickets but may be asked to wait to enter until 10am depending on guest volume. Homeschool Discount Day tickets cannot be upgraded to memberships.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for the following types of programs at Wonders of Wildlife: EdVenture Programs, Homeschool EdVentures, Tiny Tot EdVentures, Parent-Child EdVentures, Overnight EdVentures, and WOW School. The Wonders of Wildlife Financial Scholarship is intended to allow under-resourced children to take part in Conservation EdVenture Programs. Each request will be reviewed and awarded based on need by the Director of Conservation Programs. Please be aware that 100% scholarships are not awarded and you will be asked on the application how much you can contribute to the cost of the program.

Please complete all parts of the request to be considered for the scholarship. After requests are reviewed, recipients will be notified by phone or e-mail.
